Working on this internship showed me more and more about myself. I very much enjoyed the months working on this internship along with my supervisor throughout. During this time, I learned even more how important deadlines and instructions are needed to keep me on track. I need things laid out for me so I know what I'm doing and can look back on things if needed. I also learned that while I had fun and learned a lot about their business, I discovered that it's not exactly something I want to continue to do full time. I might want to freelance for a bit, but I want something more suited to what I am passionate about and went to school for. I would like a more photographic-based type of job, so that I can learn and improve. During my time, I also learned how to continue to do things on my own, pressing myself to work harder without being in a classroom setting to help me focus. I had to completely adjust to doing things at my own pace in an environment different from a classroom where I was challenged to continue to focus and have no distractions. Due to my ADHD, I faced a challenge when it came to focusing but I continued forward and was able to complete everything as needed.

Objectives Met:

  • Learning to create social posts - I wanted to learn the process on how businesses create social posts for theirs and other businesses when they work as marketers. I learned the process of researching their targeted audiences that way they can learn how they talk and make it easier for their audience to understand them. April taught me that they use ChatGPT to help create inspiration, ideas, what each post should say or look like. I was then taught how to put the posts I wrote into Canva with graphics and their specific business branded colors and logos.
  • Learning how websites are designed - I learned that each business has a different way of creating their websites for any scenario, but this one has a specific way of how they go about it. They first create specified templates for each type of business they work with that way their clients can easily pick between them. After that we then take the template and mold it to how they wish their site to look. We fix the colors, we fix the text, and some layouts then plug in their own photos, things they sell or offer and their own logos. After that we fix it up with the final touches and send it off to the client for their approval. Once we get the template approved, we send it off to the editors to put it all into action and then make the webpage live.

Objectives Not Met:

  • Photo editing - I was sadly unable to learn more in depth ways to edit photos. As I worked directly under her, and unable to interact with any of the other employees, I could not learn how to edit photos better as the opportunity was not there. The opportunity arose to introduce her more to the Adobe suites as she didn't know about them.
  • Photo taking - A goal of mine was to learn some more tricks, lightings, styles, or angles to better suit different clients, but, due to the lack of equipment, such teaching never came to be. As she was not well informed about photography and such the teaching element was not there came the inability to improve my work. The best she could help me with is showing me her vision for certain photos and clients.
